How do I choose a replacement power supply?
Check the label on your device and your existing power supply. Match the required output type (AC or DC), voltage, connector size, and, for DC supplies, polarity. The supply’s current rating must meet or exceed the device’s requirement. If you’re unsure, contact us with clear photos of the labels and connector before ordering.
Do your universal adapters replace discontinued RadioShack power supplies?
Yes. Models like our PHC-1000K offer identical output specs (selectable 3V–15V DC, 1000mA capacity) to legacy models like Catalog 2731121 (273-1121). While original RadioShack models used letter-coded Adaptaplugs, our adapters use 6 standard barrel tip sizes. Always verify tip dimensions and polarity (+/-) before connecting.
Can I use a power supply with a higher current rating?
A higher current capacity is safe when the output type, voltage, connector size, and polarity match your device’s requirements. Never substitute a higher or lower voltage or incorrect polarity. Check your device documentation before use.
What is the difference between AC and DC output?

Why does my switching power supply cause buzzing or static on AM radios?
Switching power supplies operate at high frequencies, which can naturally introduce radio-frequency (RF) noise into sensitive AM radios or vintage analog audio equipment. For noise-sensitive radio repair or vintage audio, we recommend using an AC-DC Linear Power Supply or an Isolation Transformer.
How do I check connector size and polarity?
Check your device documentation or original supply for connector dimensions (inner x outer diameter in millimeters) and the polarity symbol (+ or - on center). If details are missing, contact us with photos rather than guessing.
Will a particular supply work with my device?
We cannot confirm compatibility from voltage alone. Verify output type (AC/DC), voltage, current capacity, tip dimensions, and polarity against your device before ordering.
